WhatsApp Gold is nothing but a virus, promising to give users some advanced hidden premium features, which is obviously a hoax and most of the users attract to it and download malware on their smartphone putting their personal data in danger.

This hoax message also includes the word “Martinelli” as a warning with a video claiming that it will come out tomorrow and hack your phone. But in fact, there is nothing such as ‘Martinelli’, the message is merely spreading fear among people, but doesn’t have any malware link attached to it.

limited edition version of WhatsApp app so-called “WhatsApp Gold” – that allows users to video chat, to send 100 pictures at the same time, and delete messages hours after you have sent them.

Most of the WhatsApp users are being trapped by fraudsters into downloading a fake app, pretending it as a secret update with new features and after they click on the link, it will be redirected to a website with some unknown URL, enabling the user to download WhatsApp Gold, but in fact, it’s a malware to steal the user personal data and hack their phone.

What to do if you receive the WhatsApp Gold hoax message?

WhatsApp Gold hoax message arrives in the form of a video claiming to be a new update for WhatsApp and is widely spreading around the Wolrd and you should beware of it.

Many WhatsApp users are already aware of this scam and posting awareness of the internet and advising people to avoid such updates. Also, most of the Twitterati’s been busy spreading the awareness about the latest hoax and warning people to Stay Away!

Most of the users shared this scam on Twitter. The hoax message reads:

FYI: Whatsapp Gold. A video will be launched tomorrow in Whatsapp called Martinelli. DO NOT OPEN it. Its a virus which goes into your phone and nothing will fix it. Do not update to Whatsapp Gold the virus is serious.

Another message doing the rounds presently is:

“Today the radio was talking about WhatsApp Gold and it is true. There is a video that will be released tomorrow on WhatsApp and is called Martinelli. Do not open it. Enter your phone and nothing you do will fix it. Spread the message if you know someone. If you receive a message to update Whatsapp Gold Do not open it! They just announced that the virus is serious. Send it to everyone.”

However, this WhatsApp scam turned to be a fake and there’s no such Martinelli video and this message is just creating a ruckus among users, but WhatsApp Gold is certainly you need to beware of and need to be careful about such hoax messages and delete it immediately.

Please consider that any updates related to WhatsApp will be only available on Google Play Store and Apple App’s Store and will be updated through the app itself.

WhatsApp had already rolled out with new feature last year to tackle with fake news by labeling messages with the ‘Forwarded’ tag and the company also limited forwarding messages to only five people.

WhatsApp earlier in a statement also mentioned that it has nothing to do with WhatsApp Gold or WhatsApp Plus while stating, “Plus have no relationship with WhatsApp and we do not support WhatsApp Plus”.
